Facilitating thesis writing with AuthorCafé at Jawaharlal Nehru University

AuthorCafé hosted a seminar at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in association with the Central Library, in Delhi on 19th February 2020, on ‘Facilitating Thesis Writing with AuthorCafé’. The one day seminar was organised for all the research scholars and faculty of JNU to discuss the shift from print to digital writing-to-publishing of theses.

The audience included  researchers currently pursuing their Ph.D., all the way up to seasoned researchers. A vibrant discussion on the struggles and needs of the academic community ensued. AuthorCafé’s product head, Neelanjan Sinha did a quick live survey to identify the most pressing concerns and problems faced during the process of thesis writing.

The results

We then talked about how AuthorCafé addresses these concerns with automated formatting templates, easy browser-based collaboration, and repository management for visibility.  Dr Manorama Tripathi, Chief Librarian, JNU, said that while JNU had a PhD tracking system and a separate system for checking plagiarism, to have everything in one platform would be very useful, especially with features such as collaborative authoring & automated citation management system.
