Random Sampling

Otherwise known as probability sampling, random sampling is a technique where every sample has an equal chance of being selected. This technique is used to ensure that the sample that is chosen represents the population in an unbiased manner. It is the simplest method of sampling from a large population. However, keeping the selection process unbiased while also ensuring that the samples chosen are representative of the whole population can be a challenge. When a chosen sample fails to represent the population for any reason, it is called a sampling error.
