Sampling is the process of selecting a subset of a population with the intention of understanding the whole population. This method is used when the population is very large and it is difficult to collect and analyse data from the whole population. It is important that the chosen subset is unbiased and representative of the whole population. Sampling can be broadly classified into 2: random sampling (also called probability sampling) and non-random sampling (also called non-probability sampling).
