SRM & AuthorCafè: Keeping up with PhD thesis and research writing during the pandemic

AuthorCafé in collaboration with SRMIST hosted a series of webinars for research students focusing on conducting and communicating research during the pandemic.
The 3-day webinar series included speakers Mr Manoj Kumar from INFLIBNET, Dr Sankaranarayanan from Emeritus, Dr SRS Prabaharan from SRMIST, Dr Sridhar Gutam from ICAR-IIHR, and Dr Shanthi Krishnamurthy from AuthorCafe. The speakers talked about leveraging technology to not only write and publish their research, but also improve the visibility of their paper.
We began with Dr SRS Prabaharan (Joint Director – Research, SRMIST) talking about how technology can help researchers keep up with research writing and publishing during the pandemic. Dr Sridhar Gutam (Senior Scientist, ICAR-IIHR & Convener, Open Access India) shared his personal experience using technology to effectively write and communicate his research.
Neelanjan Sinha (Product Head, Authorcafe) then presented the product showing them how it can be used to write research, and work together with peers and guides to create submission-ready manuscripts.
Mr Manoj Kumar (Scientist-E (CS), INFLIBNET Centre, and In-charge Scientist, Sodhganga) talked about INFLIBNET and its aim to make every PhD thesis written in India available to the entire scholarly community through Sodhganga. He was followed by Dr Sankaranarayanan (Research Scientist and Professor, Emeritus), who talked about the key elements required to write a good thesis and how to disseminate it effectively.
This webinar series was attended by over 300 researchers and faculty members. SRMIST has signed an MoU with us, offering AuthorCafe as a writing and collaboration platform to its researchers. The Directorate of Research, SRMIST, will also be using AuthorCafe to track the institution’s research progress and output, as well as publishing all their research to an online institutional repository.
