GLOSSARY

Statistical Bias

Statistical bias is when a statistic is unrepresentative of a population due to preconceived prejudices that favour one thing over another.

There are different kinds of statistical biases. There is a selection bias, recall bias, observer bias, cause - effect bias, and survivorship bias amongst others.

A statistical bias can affect the generalizability of the results of the study. This means that the results will be applicable only to the other populations that share the same characteristics as your sample.
